Blog Post #126: What’s the Hack Hollywood Member’s Community Like?

Hey, we get a lot of questions from people along the lines of… “What exactly is Hack Hollywood? What’s the community like? How can Hack Hollywood help my acting career?”

Well, the best way to tell you is to show you. Below is a real member comment taken from the Hack Hollywood forums. You’ll get some insight in to how we help with accountability & mindset. Plus, you’ll see what kind of acting career advice you can expect.

So I have been so behind on my accountability but I am getting back on track!!

Since the last time I posted I finished the spring semester and I am starting a new semester tomorrow.

I was experiencing indecisiveness for some time with my internship… I started thinking to myself that I could go elsewhere and get “better” experience and what not.

Although it is not the internship that will make my career, I am learning to appreciate small beginnings and to NOT despise them but to be content where I am, and be happy that I’m not where I used to be and I know I will eventually get to where I want to be.

I was offered an internship at a talent agency and they told me they represent most of the actors that have interned for them. I was SO excited!! Because I kept thinking to myself how awesome it would be if I got representation my first year in LA.

I spoke with David about this and he really gave me some great advice and I saw that I was reacting out of fear that things were not going fast enough for me.. So long story short I am still interning at the TV Studio in Pasadena.

I am focusing on doing everything I do with a standard of excellence no matter how small the task.

This experience has really humbled me and also made me mature in some areas. It isn’t good to be jumping around at everything and that is what I was going to do. I made sure I was not being led by my emotions which is never good when making important decisions and I am staying with this internship for a bit and see how it goes.

The people at the RPM talent agency told me that I could intern in the fall and I should get back in touch with them after the summer.

I am a calmer person because of this experience and am learning that life is about staying the course and not jumping around everywhere. I am learning more every day to keep the faith and be patient with myself and my career.

On Friday, the short film I was in was screened at Warner Brothers. It was such a great experience and on Friday I was so happy to see the final product. It was really an honor to have worked with such talented people.

I have another screening for another short I did on Wednesday and I am super excited for that as well.

I am also volunteering at the LA Film festival. I am signing up for my shifts this week and can’t wait to throw myself into this experience.
