Here’s a great question I receive a lot. People want their resumes to look good, which means formatting and of course content. If you don’t have a lot of relevant content like acting jobs, what do you put on it? The answer is very little. The more filler you have on your resume, the more you look like an amateur. Well you ask, how am I supposed to get an audition if I don’t have anything on my resume? Well I say, maybe you shouldn’t be trying to get acting jobs until you have some relationships with people, have great acting skills and know exactly what you want. Then you wouldn’t be submitting a blank resume to strangers in the first place. Imagine you wanted a job in accounting but you had no accounting experience. Do you put on there that you took a chef’s course at Cordon Bleu or you taught skiing in Vermont or do you simply try to hone your skills and meet some industry folks who are going to give you a crack at some work and if you are good, they might hire you? You decide.

Can I list training I receive from Hack Hollywood on my acting resume?
You can add whatever you want to your resume, but I’m not sure it will give you any credibility. Hack Hollywood is not widely known yet, and since we go against what is advocated by a lot of casting directors, etc., they may not be crazy about what we have to say here. As you will see, the only stuff on your resume that really counts are professional credits that someone has heard of. Training doesn’t mean too much unless it is Yale or Juilliard or somewhere like that. Over time, this all may change, but for now, I wouldn’t recommend it. It may result in a lot of strange questions and steal focus away from your acting.

Sorry for the late reply. You can definitely put it on your resume although I’m not sure it will help you that much and people will probably ask you what it is and then you will have to explain it to them so it’s entirely up to you but I am definitely not opposed to it. I hope that helps.

Well what about listing training/coaching under Davis Patrick Green??

It’s entirely up to you. I find that for the most part unless you went somewhere extremely prestigious like Juilliard or Princeton or somewhere like that it’s not going to make much difference what you put under the training section. If you don’t have anything else then it’s good to have something. The other thing is whether you feel like you learned something through our training that will make you a better contributor to someone’s project. If that’s the case then definitely list me and hack Hollywood. Maybe they will ask you about it and you can tell them what you learned.
